I am by no means a Leafs fan but this is never going to happen for them now.
They are rebuilding and don't need Duchene to put them over the top. Take out the 2nd and the value is pretty close but no way the Leafs do this.

Matthews, Duchene, Kadari down the middle would be a nice trio to have. Think the Leafs are better off keeping Marner and hoping Nylander turns into Duchene quality center.

What's all this silly love for Duchene....22 points in 29 games at 6m, 2.5 years till UFA. Marner 26 points in 33 games on ELC at age 19. I know points aren't everything. But for a rebuilding team like the Leafs, and even if the Leafs weren't rebuilding is Marner for Duchene straight up even close?
Leafs could keep Marner and spend the money difference on a needed Dman this summer.

Duchene if is he is good as advertised would help a Cup contending team. Trouble is finding a team that can absorb his. 6m contract.
I thought the Flyers might be fit...Andy MacDonald would have to come back.....he's overpaid but still a NHL Dman. Prospects back to the Avs.
