With the 7.3M cap space, I'd be chasing; Saad, Tatar, Palmieri, or Hoffman... assuming RFAs like Bennett, Fiala, Buchnevich all get taken care of by their current owners.

already had better, younger goalies in mind- so mostly cap space would be the reason

if they protect Backlund they lose Mangiapane or Dube most likely instead... I agree that they would want to keep Backlund because they lack C depth, but community here seems to think Mangiapane and Dube will be protected over him
