Description

Maybe not realistic, but I think this team is better. Paying a premium for a top level right hand defenseman for Dahlin to work with becomes the big move in this off-season. Solidified goaltending, bringing in some offensive depth, and keeping together players who are showing they play well together.

“Paying a premium” when the “premium” is his base market value as a FA. It’s likely with a few teams offering, he ends up getting over 9 million. Unless it’s some team with 0 state tax.

Jets would up the offer and give 9.5.

Considering his injury history I doubt that Ullmark gets more than $3.5 million on the open market. He’s not a 60 game per season guy, he’s never been able to get there and any team who brings him on will still need a back up that can play up to 40 games. If by some minor miracle he does get that offer from somewhere else the Sabres will find another goaltender who will accept less.
