Description
Blues protection list:
F: Miller, O'Reilly, Perron, Tarasenko, Schenn, Thomas, Kyrou
D: Parayko, Faulk, Krug
G: Binnington

As far as I can tell, this wouldn't really conflict with any of Vancouver's protection scenarios.

Bring in Miller to bolster the top-9 and help Thomas out with taking draws like he did for Pettersson. We could lose Dunn in the expansion assuming Parayko, Faulk, and Krug would be protected, so might as well deal him for an upgrade. Thomas and Kyrou take bridge deals and Blues sign a veteran backup goalie. Bozak and Schwartz are also brought back on team-friendly deals.

A number 4 d-man, a 3rd liner and a 2nd rounder isn't anywhere near enough for a top line caliber player.

Would you do Kostin instead of Sunny?

Yeah Canucks decline and...did Kostin suddenly destroy the AHL? He has been super disappointing consistently and he's suddenly given top line minutes?? He's barely cracked the bottom six in four years after being a top-tier prospect. This would be like if Ottawa suddenly put Logan Brown on the top line next year (i.e. 0% chance)

Canucks aren't rebuilding, and Kostin isn't a top prospect, he's a B- prospect at this point in time, he's already 22 and doesn't show much promise, he seems relatively far from making the NHL
