Devils aren't paying to get rid of Subban. They need him go reach the cap floor and he still is a solid defensemen

Devils could retain 50% at the deadline and trade him for a pick or prospect

He is then $3 real money and at 50 off is $4.5 on cap
If not to XD he should be moved early TDL

Subban at $9 million may be tough.
But after his $6 million signing bonus, he has only $2 million in real money due.

If Devils retained 50%, Subban is good value at $4.5m AAV, $1 million real money.
If he plays well again next year, I could see late 1st, early 2nd return for him if retained at deadline.
