I might agree if it fails again next year. It would have been just fine if the cap didnt get flat. Projections on where the cap was going to go, especially with the new revenue from the tv deal were quite high until COVID. Those contracts look completely different in a non COVID world.

That said, the expectation this offseason is one big move, as in bringing in 1 game changing player. Granlund is a welcome addition, Goodrow sure, even Coleman, but until that one big move the team won't beat the best teams without a lot of luck. They need something else.

Personally I think it is a Reilly trade for assets, then pick up the big piece using some of those assets. I think it is another top 6 impact forward. That will also give them more flexibility to maybe deal a Nylander or Marner IF/WHEN they fail again next season.
