First of all, why would we ever give up Chiarot in the Expansion Draft? He's definitely in our protected list and the D to be left exposed imo is Weber. As much as he's a crucial piece to our blue line, if Seattle wants to take his contract off our books, it opens up a lot in terms of improving the team. Sort of a one step back, two steps forward kind of thing. As for the trade, I wish Nashville would accept that lol. They aren't gonna let us fleece them again. Drouin has almost become a cap dump because no one is sure when he'll be back and if he'll be the same player ever again. I would expect the Habs to move a pick so that Seattle takes him. It would be a great change of scenery for him and I think he could really succeed. I think a cheaper option to Ekholm could be Goligoski because he's already a free agent and will cost a similar amount. He had a fantastic season as well.

NSH doesn't consider. Even with the retention, Drouin is overpaid.

When was the first time? As a NSH fan I'd do the Weber-Subban trade again. The Preds had hit a wall before that trade, and Subban breathed new life into the locker room. The Preds hit new heights after the trade, and Subban significantly out-performed Weber those first few seasons. Subban started to decline earlier than expected, but that couldn't have been predicted at the time. The Preds got out from under his contract before it became an issue for them (what they did with the cap space they freed up by trading him is another matter).
