Description
The goal of this team is to win now, or in the next couple years. A lot of sideways moves to try and fix some holes while maybe sacrificing a strength. More skill, but also adding some grit and physicality.
TO CLEAR UP CONFUSION:
The 3.5 million in cap hit Toronto sends to Detroit is 2 million/year for the rest of Nylander's contract and 1.5 million/year for the rest of Marners.
I retained on Tom Wilson because Cap Friendly doesn't allow you to trade a player then trade back for them with salary retained. If you think that is cap circumvention the Leafs can add a 3rd team and the trade can go: Leafs (Marner, Nylander, FRP)-->Detroit (keeps the FRP, retains on Marner and Nylander)-->3rd team-->Leafs (get Marner and Nylander back at lower cap hits)
Leafs will have an extra 1 million in cap space (I can't retain all 3.5 million in the Wilson trade).

    Leafs add in robertson, amirov, sandin, and then wings will retain contracts for the next 45 years like suggested

    The wings might actually need it to get to the cap floor. They currently need like 30 more million in cap hits to get there and their only big FAs are Bertuzzi (likely around 4.5-5 mill), Vrana (around 5.5 mill), and Bernier (3-4 mill). The rest of their roster will be filled out with low AAV players.

    Its not retained salary its part of the salary the leafs traded away because you can't trade straight salary so I had to be creative to get the salary the leafs save. Read the description and the trade description
