A buyout of Neal saves a little under 4 million. Edmonton holds the cards. If the Oilers don’t get Keith I think they should target someone in free agency to play the second pairing left side for about 4 mill for two years. Which is the same cost as buying out Neal. If Chicago wants Seth it makes sense to bring on Caleb. They buyout Neal so they still save money.

Koskinen buyout doesn’t make sense unless Smith is signing for the same amount of money, if he wants more then 3 let him walk. He’s a one year option who will probably play between his 2019-2020 self and 2020-2021. There’s no reason to think Mikko can’t bounce back like Smith did. Neither are long term solutions and it only makes sense to have one. Since 2019-2020 Mikko has a higher save percentage then John Gibson. My point is yea he had a rough year but let’s not overpay Smith when prior to last year we were all ready to leave Smith in the dust.
