Description

Brought the big 3 back: Makar, Landy, and Gru. Signed them all at $8.5M, varying terms. Might be higher than that, but I've seen predictions higher and lower. Had to let Saad walk because he'll demand too much. Replaced him with Stastny. Kadri selected by Kraken. Made a few free-agent acquisitions outside of the organization. Traded EJ to Phoenix for a young prospect and swapped draft picks. Essentially just salary relief. Added Paquette and Hakanpaa to add toughness we lost when Graves, Johnson, Kadri, and Bellemare left. Lose a bit of scoring punch with Kadri and Saad gone even after signing Stastny. Hoping Goodrow and the youngsters can help make up for some of it. Not a perfect roster, but it'll do. Note: I bet Sakic will let Compher or Donskoi go to the Kraken, but I'd let Kadri go.

I had an Avs fan tell me when I made an ACGM that Gabe would take a cut and make like 6.5 million. As much as that guy turned out to be wrong, I think Gabe would certainly have already signed the deal you have for him there. Please don't pay Grubauer that much. I don't think Sakic will. Stastny also is not good anymore.

EJ waived his NMC for the draft but he won't do so for a trade. He'll either be in the lineup when healthy or on LTIR with the Avs being able to use that money for another player if/when he is injured.

Talk about some crazy bad decisions. You let a 2C go for free why, and sign a 35yr old who’s skating has never been his forte to be the replacement why? The UFA contract for Grubauer is a pretty acknowledged range of 6x$6M but you want to give him an extra $2.5M per season, in addition to signing Jones another goalie giving them 7 goalies under contract. And then sign 2 dmen in Benn and Hakapaa who are not better than Timmins but also not better than MacDonald and drop Jordie Freaking Benn into the top 4!?!?!

This is a hot mess with really bad contract signings all over
