That’s a very easy match for Detroit. I also don’t see how spending 8 million (it would be more if you wanted either player) on two third line wingers while neglecting the left D helps much.

Then there’s the small issue of the team not being cap compliant when rask is ready to play.

I agree Detroit matches that. Coleman I wouldn't want to spend 4M on but he's a back to back stanley cup winner entering free agency so he's getting overpaid. And Slater Koekkoek is a very good defenseman. Insane that he's gonna be this cheap because everyone undervalues him. For cap compliance with tuuka, just trade debrusk at the deadline. He's not a good fit with the bruins anymore. I like him and he still shows potential but playing him on the 3rd/4th line is a waste.

I think this is a pretty foolish view regarding debrusk. The guys top tool is his speed, and he just never had his legs this year. Do you think that:
1. The 24 year old just forgot how to skate? Or
2. Not having a full off-season, and having no pre-season effected him?

Seems like there’s one of those that’s pretty logical, and one that’s illogical. Give the guy a normal season, and then make the judgment.

Slater koekkoek is an analytics darling, but he’s nothing special. That’s not what the left side needs, they need a minutes eater. None of those three guys are. I love Grzelcyk, but he can’t be the guy getting the most minutes on the left side. Hence why I think suter is the perfect fit.

You’re right on Coleman. $4M is probably a stretch for him value wise, but you know he’ll get more.

Suter wants term or I'd love him too. But I don't want a guy like him signed any longer than 2 years. If coleman rejects that offer I'd offer Vrana more so Detroit might not match it (around 6M) and sign a guy like Mathieu Perreault. Analytics darlings clearly help out teams a lot. Look at tampa. I don't think getting a big oversized D who just eats up minutes is a good idea.
