Don't see ANA being 1 of 20 especially playing on the wing for a team with no shot at winning soon and a 13% state income tax rate

Was rumored last year to be willing to work with Tampa to make a trade work, and not trading for players that have partial no moves because "Rebuilding" takes away almost all the likely trade pieces.

Johnson has never said anything about caring where he goes, and he has two rings now, Winning would probably be less of a priority compared to playing time

Really solid AGM. I definitely want GMBM to do something similar to this.

But I kinda doubt Toronto adds Niemelä to the 3rd. The 3rd on its own seems more realistic.
I'd want to sign Comtois to a 2-3 year bridge deal tbh. Simply so that his new contract doesn't walk him to Unrestricted Free Agency. But I see the prospect and cons with both contracts.

So you put him on fourth line wing he doesn't like Playing on the wing nearly as much or do so nearly as well as in the middle. Show me a guy that doesn't care about winning I'll show you someone I have no interest in

I based the Henrique deal off of the Jeff Carter deal at the deadline, I wanted us to draft Niemela last year tears of joy

I'm more on board for a long term deal, just like Rakells deal he signed that expires this year. We have the extra cap space now, we could use it and make it a steal in a year or 2 if Comtois keeps developing

Using Rakells deal (that expires this season) as the baseline for a Comtois Extension

Rakell came off a 20 goal season, Rakell also had a world junior Gold and Silver Medal at this time, They are actually very similar in-terms of resume at this time. Both player also had very high shooting percentages (prone to natural regression)

Comtois before first new contract 94 23 28 51 (Games, Goals, Assists, Points)
Rakell before first new contract 165 29 49 78 (Games, Goals, Assists, Points)

Rakell ppg = 0.47
Comtois = 0.54 (Much smaller sample size)

Rakell signed for 6 years 3.8M AAV (For sake of ease) 5.21% of the cap space at the time
5.21% of the current salary cap = 4,246,150
