Description

If Schmidt doesn’t work out I see us moving him at the deadline and getting mattias ekholm. He is just a really solid player and would help for a long playoff run. But then again only if Schmidt doesn’t work out. we’re in a really bad cap problem so if that doesn’t happen I don’t us doing anything at the trade deadline

That’s not enough for Ekholm.
I also think the Jets are fine keeping Schmidt. He didn’t have a great season last year, but extenuating circumstances with Van’s season played a role. Schmidt was a top pair guy on Vegas the last time there was a normal regular season.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Ekholm signed by the TDL. If he isn't and he does come available, you have to remember that there are plenty of teams that would be in on him. A bottom pairing defenseman at best and a mid-late 1st would be beaten by a lot of teams.
