I believe they are demonstrating the wholistically, the Canes did not improve over the offseason, highlighting the players that left and the players that replaced them.

Dzingel wasn’t a fit. He had to take a 1 million deal from Arizona
Ned wasn’t worth 4.5 million
Mrazek wanted 3 years, canes weren’t signing him that long
Raanta is a better goalie than Reimer
Foegele isn’t worth top 6 minutes and wasn’t getting them here
Dougie isn’t worth the contract
Bean isnt a top 4 defender or worth that money
Hakanpää wasn’t a fit for our system
