Description
UFA for UFA. Pens need help on D and the Jets need help on wing. I have little hope the Pens resign Perron and Erixon will be claimed if waived. Scuds with 1 million retained can be useful in Winnipeg with all their youth.

No way Scuderi waivers to go to Winnipeg. No way Winnipeg takes that deal overall as that's a horrendous offer.

Scuds can only decline to 8 predetermined teams. I can think of 8 worse teams than Winnipeg.

And what's so horrendous about it? Jets need help on the wing and Perron is a solid top 6 forward. What do you expect to get for Byfuglien going into the last year of his contract? You saw what Kessel at 2 million retained got, right? You saw what Sharp got, right? But Buff is going to bring something similar or more? Oh please.

The difference is that Chicago and Toronto felt like they had to move Sharp and Kessel. Given that the Jets are trying to contend I don't see why they would give up Byfuglien for Perron who is also going into the last year of his contract plus basically nothing.

Not a chance the Jets would take this.

Maybe. But Perron can be resigned for the Jets and fits into their top 6 now, Byfuglien won't be... not with their youth they have. Byfuglien might actually drop to 2nd pairing this year anyways.

Actually, thinking about it, Byfuglien wont be resigned by a lot of contenders, which is probably the only places he'd go. So no contender is going to over-pay for one year of Byfuglien.

Are the Jets going to let him walk for nothing?

I wouldn't be opposed to the Pens adding more, but the only thing we have to offer are goalie prospects. Throw in a Tristan Jarry?

I think you have it backwards. Scuds can decline 21 teams and can only be moved without permission to 8.

I agree with most everything else. But if you'd like to know what I thought was a fair offer for Buff you can find it here. Spoiler: I was told it wasn't enough either and defended it with the same logic you posted.

Edit: I think Winnipeg has a glut of goalie prospects. Jarry won't draw much interest from them.
