Description
Toews: are you captain serious or still suffering? Just get back to full health and try to influence the young generation of tomorrow.
Kane: uhhhhh, be Kane?
Cat: I’ll be one hundred percent honest, just shoot for 30 goals this year. I have a suspicion cat is due an off year. Guys like him are too predictable and can be shut down easily. So aim for 30 and work on contributing as a playmaker as well (I’ve always hated cat’s passing).
Kuba: contract year mean’s big performances. I completely expect 30 goals minimum in a full calendar year for this guy. He’s got the compete and ability to do so.
Strome: oh boy…..strome, just make yourself valuable any way you can. Strome is completely dependent on those around him which is why he’s with Kane and cat in this lineup. If he’s TDL bait, I expect him to play heavily with those two to inflate value.
Kurashev: push for top six minutes. I love this kid so much and I believe he can a top sixer in this team, but it’s all on him.
Hagel: given the line mates I have you with, you need to be the fire and engine that keeps that line rolling. It got you to the show in the first place, so 15-20 goals would be awesome.
Dach: this is an easy one. Stay healthy, that is all, just stay healthy and don’t build up the injury prone tag. I don’t care about points with Dach cuz he’s a defensive center anyway. Just stay healthy and play a full season, for the love of god……
S. Jones: my harshest expectation by far, top 5 in Norris voting no questions asked. Do I think he’ll do it, of course not, but given his trade and contract, anything less is unacceptable to me.
McCabe: I’ll be honest that I’m not high on this guy, so I expect this guy to at least hover around a positive +/-. That’s it.
Murphy: justify the extension. That’s it. That means being a bedrock on that second pairing and being a huge help to any youngster paired with him.
Fleury: how to even make an expectation for this guy? Honestly, .915% goaltending is what I’d expect and settle for. I love his style but something about the hawks just seems toxic for goalies lately.
Front office: fire everyone in the scandal. I never hear these guys names ever again as they make me ashamed of being a hawks fan. As for bowman up top, I expect to continue destroying the future for the present as long as his name is on the chopping block.

Not a fan of the Nylander trade, but your right to have those expectations of the guys in the lineup.

Would be interested to hear what your thoughts are on: Johnson, Borgstrom, Kalynuk and Beaudin?

Johnson: experience, experience, EXPERIENCE. Realistically, provide guidance for the youth a la toews and make an impact like madden did back in 2010. Guys like Johnson can show youth how to be “playoff players.”
Borgstrom: I genuinely wanted to avoid this one. Let’s just say, show your potential is warranted. You don’t have to set the world on fire, but prove that you’re not just another nylander. The hawks love their reclamation projects, and I can only hope this one works.
Kalynuk: at the very least, earn a permanent starting spot on that left side. The race is wide open given McCabe is a lock and de haan likely is until he leaves. That being said, kalynuk has huge potential to be that final cog in the left side. But he still has to compete with……….
Beaudin: full disclosure: I love this kid. I love how much he reminds me of a Sam girard and couldn’t care less about his size. This is the guy I want playing on the left this season. However, given kalynuk and de haan probably being in front of him, I’ll make the expectation simpler. Make yourself untradeable. Not in the bad sense, but in the, “this kid is the future” sense. He was awesome in Rockford and he just needs to keep that momentum and he’ll be up (logically) in no time.

Shea Weber help make Seth Jones. Seth Jones helped make Zach Werenski like Werenski helped Seth Jones. Now it’s time to expect Seth Jones to take a Kalynuk,Beaudin, Caleb Jones and make them into a better than average NHLer. Expecting Jones to be a Norris level player is fair but we should be more focused in hoping he developes a top4 partner like others helped him in his career in my opinion. Jones got the Seabrook contract… aka what he brings to the team should be huge to the team as a whole not as an individual.

I don’t disagree that he should influence the youngsters, but if he doesn’t get that Norris caliber play going, he’s not influencing anyone. Jones needs to be a catalyst, and as I said, anything less is failure with the pressure his trade and contract threw on him.

As far as the seabrook comparison, I don’t believe his contract being similar has any bearing on his being more than just an individual. If he plays well individually, he inherently makes the team better, period. Making others around him better starts with setting an example to follow. As far as I’m concerned, hearing about the “personal beliefs” of Seth Jones makes me want not a single youngster anywhere near him. But that’s just me.

Just trying to convince you the Seth Jones trade is not a bad move yet and make sure the anger is directed at the gm not the player.. The trade and contract are done. Got to accept it for what it is and hope the Norris player Seth Jones is still there. Stan Bowmans offensive trades haven’t worked out much. On the other hand A lot of his acquired dmen seem good to me. So hopefully Stan Bowman got his Norris level Dman in Jones and the hawks make a good playoff push. If not, yeah bring on the Stan Bowman hate not Seth Jones hate. Panarin/Boqvist for Saad/Jones should be too big a fck up if Jones doesn’t pan out.
