Not much of a rebuild with all that cap haha I'd get rid of a few other contrasts
Like Max said below, Sedins come off the books the following summer. being the players they are, will probably waive the NMCs for the betterment of the team if they are not in the playoff hunt in return for some picks/prospects. Then they would probably want to resign in the summer for a big paycut. They are the consumate pros and are the most selfless players in the league.

I'd like to get rid of a few other contracts as well, but some seem to be boat anchors...
The following season 14m is going to be available with the sisters contracts expiring and most likely retiring

1) Canucks wont sign Bo to a bridge contract there is not even a remote chance of that happening
I agree, it will probably be a 6-8year deal for 6-7per. i do not agree with that though since he is still young and there are lots of young players give big contracts with big expectations and are strugg;ing to live up. a 2 year bidge deal would allow Horvat to secure his value and potentially get and even bigger payday. Obviously that is unlikely the way contracts are given out these days.
2) Why would the Canucks let their best defenceman leave for nothing in return? Does not make any sense from any prespective
Edler is hardly their best defenseman, Tannev is. and if you watch the Canucks, you'd know he has struggled since 2011. He is a solid top 4 guy, far from a #1. With getting rid of Hansen at the deadline, the Canucks are most likely going to lose a defenseman in the ED. It's not going to be Tannev, it's unlikely they will let Gudder go unprotected with what they gave up for him; so that leaves Edler or Sbisa. Edlers NTC restricts too many options with a trade but he can be exposed in the ED. Sbisa is not the player Edler is but offers more trade flexibility for a team now in full rebuilding mode. Losing the latter for nothing, only to be unable to unload the former due to a limited list of teams they will waive for, has proven to be a difficult task for GMs to make strong moves at the deadline over the past few years... So they lose him as a UFA for nothing, since most players are not likely to come back after getting shopped without success.
3) Hamonic is a top pairing defender. To trade him for Sbisa is the worst insult to any Islander fan
Yup, Hamonic is a top4 pairing defender, he might be a #1 on the Canucks, he might not. Part of that trade was based on the fact that Snow has made lots of **** trades over the years, part was dumping Dorsett.
5) If this is a rebuild, why is Patty Sharp signed to a 2 year deal, let alone a deal to begin with?
3 cup rings, 142gp in the playoffs and could serve as a mentor to the younger players. 2years at 3per for a player who could still put 10-20goals, but bring a wealth of leadership and experience from Chi's rebuilding years to a new younger core... Seems like something the Canucks lack.
6) Larsen, for two years, just no
he is a decent 7-8th d-man and can play the 2nd unit. Depth resigning until Juolevi is ready.
7) McIlrath???
He was actually a minors signing to fill out some of the contracts and was one of the few young cheap D-men on the UFA list with some NHL exp... He, along with Weal, Thompson, Agostino and Vermin were not supposed to be on the NHL roster, that was an oversight. Sorry

8) Even if all of this where to happen, whats going on with your lines? Patty Sharp shouldnt be on the 4th line. Goldobin or Gaunce should be playing. You have six scratched forwards. On the defence, your pairings all have two players with the same side.
I did not put a ton of time and effort into the lines. If you have watched the canucks much over the last 2 years, you'd know that the lines are always shuffled around, and players always are injured. See above for the excess scratched forwards

Why would you expose one of Vancouver's best defenders for the expansion draft?
