Description
The Buch trade coupled w/ unanticipated Krav situation has created a hole on top line.
Pan/Strome has chemistry...and Kakko seems to compliment well with what he does along boards.
While Buch trade openned a hole up top- Blais is a very solid bottom 6er...and there seems to be chemistry on that 3rd line with Chytl and LaF
Leaves Goodrow, Rooney and Hunt/Reaves on 4th line- that line has good worth as a grinding line.
So why not give Gaut the shot at 1RW? More size and speed to add to Zib/Kreider line...why not give the kid the chance? Don't know why he is always the odd man out...seemingly has the tools needed to succeed- just give him a chance!

I don't think LaF and Kreider on 1st line is the answer...Kreider better on the left- and with LaF and Kreider split- now have 3 dangerous scoring lines...if a 1RW is found! Enough with the trades for Kessel, Tarasenko, Riley Smith, etc....and Goodrow is not a long term answer at the spot...the best answer might already be on the team...just give him a chance...sure there will be growing pains- but if it works- NYR then have "found" talent which cost no assets. And if it doesn't work the team can move on knowing that every chance was afforded to a player with potential to be a beast.

Because the Rangers are 5-0-0 with McKegg in the lineup.

Good idea.

And if that doesn't work, give Anthony Greco a few games. He's leading the AHL team in points. If the Rangers want to tell Kravtsov that hard work in the AHL pays off, there's no better way. Plus the guy is from Queens, so talk about a feel-good story, if he does anything good at all with the chance.

I like Brett Murray he's a big guy with some skills unfortunately he doesn't skate very well for an NHL player - I think Gauthier has a similar problem - Murray has improved his skating from pretty pretty pretty bad to just kind of bad but he's 24 now so he's on the cusp of being a life long AHLer.

I don't think skating is Gaut's problem...rather it is a big strength. Last year when given a chance he seemed to be a handful...consistently blowing past defenders- and with his size can make power move toward net once he gets a small edge on the D man. Last year his problem seemed to be dumb penalties at inopportune times. This year I can't even say that because he has played so little. But if mistakes are what is worried about...that's part of what you have to live with regarding young players...and if/when they learn from those mistakes- there can be a lot of benefit to reap! But that he isn't even getting a chance under Gallant- makes you wonder what is going on. Effort in practice? Uncoachable? Has to be some issue which just isn't getting aired publicly.

Nothing better for optics than seeing "highly regarded" prospects getting passed on the depth charts by an unheralded prospect working his butt off!
