Trades
1.
PHI
  1. Bieksa, Kevin
  2. Montour, Brandon
Additional Details:
Trading Bieksa's NMC enables the Ducks to protect 7F, 3D, and 1G without losing any of their top 3 young dmen. They can leave MacDonald unprotected in hopes he'll be drafted by LVK. They lose Montour, a top prospect ready for NHL duty, but do get a top D prospect in Sanhiem.

Added bonus: Trade is out of conference.
ANA
  1. MacDonald, Andrew ($2,000,000 retained)
  2. Sanheim, Travis
Additional Details:
Flyers retain 40% of MacDonald's contract, and move top LHS D prospect, Sanhiem, for top RHS D prospect, Montour. They also get Bieksa's toughness, which is something the Flyers lack depth in.

Added bonus: Trade is out of conference.

Sanheim has been playing the right side all year with the Phantoms. I would prefer to see how he turns out over getting Montour. We can always buy-out AMac.

As much as I like Sanhiem, he is still a LHS, and as the Flyers have plenty of those, he is an expendable asset. Also, teams have been exploiting the fact that Gudas is the only RHS dman in the lineup. I'd much rather try to trade Mac and pay $2M for 3 years then buy him out for almost the same amount per season over 6 years.

Bieksa isn't waiving his NMC for Philly, Not when he and his family just settled there in Southern California.

Yeah, that NMC could be a huge hurdle for the Ducks. It's possible he waives it just to be left unprotected and hope he doesn't get selected .. but that's a risk for him .. maybe not a big one as I really don't think he'll be taken .. but it's still a risk. If the Ducks don't move a dman .. they'll have to leave Silverberg or Rakell unprotected .. not ideal for them.

We have Phil Myers coming up very soon, Gudas will not be the only RHS D man.
