Description

Before the season, I always said the Leafs' biggest question mark is the 2nd pair right defence position. I just wasn't convinced with Holl at all, and his struggles so far have proved it. However, after he got scratched for Dermott, the Leafs have been on a roll. During these past 5 games, they have outplayed some more difficult opponents. So now I have to ask how everyone feels about Dermott being in the top 4. He's always killed his third pair role the past couple of seasons, but don't you think the team should have someone more proven?

I think Lafreniere is capable of breaking out. His on-ice results are really good and his individual contributions are at a similar rate compared to other top playmaking wingers:

Panarin - 0.715 iXG/60 + 0.853 xA/60
Marner - 0.8 iXG/60 + 0.88 xA/60
Kaprisov - 0.68 iXG/60 + 0.68 xA/60
Marchand - 0.88 iXG/60 + 0.84 xA/60
Gaudreau - 0.75 iXG/60 + 0.92 xA/60
Teravainen - 0.89 iXG + 0.93 xA/60

I think he can do well in a more offensive role, but he’s stuck on NYR’s fourth line due to their LW depth.
