Kane is obviously great but would his 8.8M get in the way of those RFA contracts? Kids seem to get paid right away nowadays

Valid points. Kings players always seem to take team friendly deal, especially the young ones, but who knows. Bridge deals would have to be a factor.

That seems like a heck of a lot to give up for Girard, a defenseman who doesn't necessarily fit the mold of a defenseman that Blake has said he wants, size specifically being my main concern.

I'd give up that package for Bertuzzi, but if Detroit were ever wanting to trade him, I'd imagine they want a 1st rounder going their way. Not sure how that would change the rest of the package, because JAD and Madden are solid pieces. However, with Veleno already in their system, I don't think Detroit needs another probable 3C. Maybe Vilardi would be a part of that package instead of going after Girard.
