Description
these are mostly smaller moves to try to get some assets. my thought here is that you maybe use some of these seconds to move up in the first round depending on where the pick is in 2023, or to acquire other players.

i didn’t think bellows was an nhl player prior to this season but i’ve been impressed with him tbh, he’s been way better than i thought this year. he should def stay in the lineup for now. i also like czarnik and think they should bring him back for the fourth line in place of clutterbuck. ideally they add a higher impact player but i don’t see an obvious target. this gives them some cap space to work with tho and they can also move some other guys around to add even more.

  2. 2024 2nd round pick (STL)
Additional Details:
not sure if STL is a team that’d need him but i’ve seen mayfield to stl trades on here before so i worked with that
STL
  1. Mayfield, Scott ($700,000 retained)
2.
NYI
  1. 2023 2nd round pick (COL)
COL
  1. Varlamov, Semyon ($2,500,000 retained)
Additional Details:
he’s sucked this year but i’d think a team would give up a 2nd for him at 2.5mil considering he’s been good in the past, especially if he evens out over the course of this season. mostly just picked a random team i thought might need goaltending help but could be anyone.

I would rather take less of a return on Varly and not retain a dime. I think you get at least a 2nd for him at full freight regardless

i disagree. obv if we can get a solid pick without retaining that’d be ideal, but this team really shouldn’t end up tight to the cap, so if retention boosts the return i’m all in favor of getting more assets.

Varly is the 2nd greatest goalie in Avs history, but they let him go for durability concerns, just spent a rather high price to acquire Kuemper. I suppose anything is possible in the off season if Kuemper flames out but w/UFA possibilities in MAF and Campbell why spend more resources on an older guy. On separate note the Avs have to get future starter into the organization somehow,
