This is definitely gonna trigger hawks fans. So spoiler alert.
Rip apart at the seems. As I said earlier, there is still no direction in this team. Once Kane and toews are gone, cat, Dach, Jones, and the rest are not the answer. As one hawks fan on this site has said many times, the goal is the cup, not just playoffs. If that’s the case, we still don’t have any foundations. Since the poison of the front office has been largely cleaned out, I think it’s to try and throw in a clean slate for the roster as well.
I’ll also be adding logic and opinions as to why each trade is happening as well. The only way the hawks ever compete again, as Alfred once said to Bruce: “endure, master Wayne.”
Kane: Kane can win a cup with a contending team. Nuff said. He also brings value back and the rangers have been mentioned as one of his few teams he’d go to.
Fleury: this one feels obvious. Give him a chance one more time before we potentially retires. Who needs a goalie more than the oilers?
Toews: off the top, I know I’m trading him in this thread, but that’s because logically I have no idea who the hell would take him. Too much risk at too much cap. Let his contract go up and let him choose his path.
Debrincat: oh boy, trigger alert here. Hear me out. Cat and Kane are joined at the hip. However, Kane has always made others better while cat is more questionable. If Kane were traded, I do wonder if cat would want out considering the writing would be on the wall for the hawks. So, as his contract continues to tick down, I wonder if it’s worth hearing offers.
Kubalik: I feel like the writing is already on the wall for this one.
Dach: hehe, take it easy, I have no clue what his value is and no clue what a decent trade would look like. That being said, if Dach asks 7 mil per in his first post elc contract, Kirby, **** off. He’s not even in the top 3 of players currently from his draft year, may even be outside top 5.
Mitchell, beaudin, regula: I’ll be the first to admit I always want to build through the draft. But i think the hawks have completely lost the plot on these three. I know dmen take time, but beaudin looks short on confidence, Mitchell never looked like he could handle the size involved in the nhl, and regula could be the next great AHL all star. I’m not reading them in this thread, but I’m not optimistic.
Murphy: don’t want to elaborate on this one, other than to say, get some value out of him and hope his injury history isn’t a burden. A healthy Murphy is decent.
