Description
NYI needs 1 more estabilished Dman to have a very solid top 4

Bailey gets delt, Varlomov unfortunantly is out. Playoff beast past 2 years

Maybe if Trotz gets his head out of his 4$$ and plays wally with barzal we will have a good 1st line

Raty: 13p in 11gp with his new team in the Finnish pro league. Should be NHL ready next szn imo

Too much for Varlamov. 2022 1st, a B-prospect (Rasanen?), and take Kyle Turris back. Done before the deadline, both teams walk away with what they want.

How has Varlamov looked this year? Would you really pay a 1st for him?

I know the answer, but curious to see how you can justify it

I think the only thing is this. Varlamov has been a beast throughout his time on the Island and has playoff experience. Teams getting desperate at TDL could make a 1st happen. I think a 2nd (which would be conditional, like if EDM makes the WCF the pick turns into a 1st) and a 3rd are more likely. Varly also has half the league on NTC, I would almost guarantee EDM and all Canada teams are on that

I don’t Disagree that he has been great the last few years. The problem is at his age, you can’t base a decision on how he’s played the last few years. The reality is at this point what he’s done this season is all that matters, and he doesn’t look great.

I understand the idea of making that slight upgrade to Varlamov over Koskinen, but given how Holland pissed away all his cap this off-season, I’m worried that being on the hook for $5M next season for an aging goalie who could very well not bounce back could realistically burn another year of McDavids career without being able to build around him.

Yeah I was just saying what would get Varly a 1st. I think it would all be conditional based for a trade like that. It’s only 1 more year and if Skinner is the backup, then there really shouldn’t be too much of a problem IMO
