Description
Just trying to give some line suggestions and fix the team internally

- Holloway can for sure be on the team but I wouldn't be opposed to keeping him in the minors for the year either.

- Tippet needs to spread out the ice time more evenly. As hard as it is having two of some of the best players in the world, he can't overplay them (22+ minutes a night). If McDavid and Drai play closer to the 20 minute mark a game and the odd 22+ minute here and there then that would be perfect. This would give the bottom 6 more playing time and confidence along with results should come shortly after.

- Barrie needs to go. He has offesnive upside but it's not what the oilers need as of now. The Oilers desperately need more guys who can hold down the fort in the dzone.

- Smith is always injured, better for him to play it safe and hopefully come back next year as a backup for the team

Kassian & Smith would have to go on waivers to be put on the taxi squad. Kassian would for sure get scooped by another team then you lose him for absolutely nothing, which would be dumb when they could at the very least trade him for a draft pick.
Also, Brogberg isnt ready for 2nd pairing minutes... especially with Kris Russell.

Kassian being claimed would be cap relief as he hasn't done much this year. The oilers could try and shop him around but I can see them only getting a 4th at most back. Smith won't be picked up due to his injuires and his contract as he has another year after this.

For Broberg, he is our second best LD in the organization and has shown why he should be on the team from his games this year. He never looked out of place once and he has the skating abiltiy and physical maturity to be in the show. The problem would be his d partner, the oilers really don't have anybody to play him with, I was thinking Ceci as he's been completly average for the team but I think he grounds Keith well and helps him. That leaves Russell and Koekkoek to play with him and Russell, being the vetran guy, would be the best option out of them besides Ceci.

So if they could get a 4th for kassian, they would not waive him for the taxi squad. I realize Kassian hasnt been much of a factor lately, but i also dont see them dumping or trading him unless they find a gritty winger to replace him with. besides the goal tending, the Oilers major problem is that they are waaaay to easy to play against. Too soft, especially on the back end.

Watching every oilers game, Kassian has lost his edge and looks unengaged most of the time. He looks super lazy and hurts the team more than he helps. The oilers are easy to play against but grit isn't gonna solve the problem. The oilers need dmen who are sound defensively and one more guy from the back end who can move the puck (barrie upgrade). The league has changed and grit and size isn't necessary for a team to win anymore. Speed kills and hard work kills and you can see it within the top teams in the league this year.
