This is one of the main reasons why Broberg needs to be moved. If he cant slot in in the top 4 then he doesn't fit. No way he should be bumping Kulak out of 3LD, and show me the proof that Broberg or Kulak can effectively play RHD. Broberg does not fit into this roster in the "win now" timeline. Ceci is fine, but to say he is a legit top 4 defender, nah, he is 3RD on a defensively good team. He is a cap casualty, would love to keep him for 3RD, but cant do it with the cap.

You can be a fan and realistic at the same time. I never said I would even want the Oilers to trade for Wilson, if we didnt already have Kane then I could see a need to facilitate a trade for a guy like Wilson, but thats not the case.
I was simply commenting on the trade and the fact that the Caps wouldnt do that trade. Unfortunately Nurse's contract diminishes his value terribly. If his cap hit were anywhere from $6-7.5mill it would be a different story, but its not(I like Nurse, i dont think he deserves the hate he gets, i would prefer he remains an Oiler).
As for Broberg, I think Holland should have cashed in on him after he traded for Ekholm. Ekholm/Nurse/Kulak are the top 6 LHD that will win a stanley cup. Broberg doesnt fit the timeline, cash in. RHD is where they need to do some tweaking.

Pionk has great value. He is a legit top 4 RHD who plays in all situations. I see this as a TDL deal. By TDL 2024 Broberg will still not be making a serious push for a reg spot on the roster so Holland will finally give in and admit he is a bust as far as early first rnd picks go. Because he waited so long Broberg's value will have greatly diminished. So I see it this way: 1rst rnd pick and Broberg for Pionk. 3rd rnd pick and Ceci for retaining salary and taking Ceci.... This is also assuming Ceci doesnt turn it around and continues to play like he did the season before. Its a fair trade.
