Tavares is sick but I don't think edmonton would pull the trigger.

seems to me that you have undervalued draisaitl to the oilers. Tavares is an upcoming ufa. if jt that important to the isles, you think the isles would keep him regardless of his sign ability

I'm sure isles are still begging him to re sign but the longer this goes, the further his value plummets. Think you're ancy now!!!

think you're right nashless. from a public relations view, and ticket sales, you would think the isles aren't trading him in the offseason. so the next time to trade him is the TDL. but if the isles need Tavares to make the playoffs or to do well in the playoffs, then he maybe he doesn't get traded at all. there aren't too many teams that might have the cap room to sign Tavares in summer of 2018, well teams that JT would find attractive contender. guessing he stays an Islander, although Brooklyn or Queens doesn't seem to be an "islander".

Here is a comparison of some recent big name trades

Martin St. Louis FOR2014 conditional 2nd round pick, 2015 1st round pick, Ryan Callahan -Deadline trade

2015 3rd round pick, Ryan Kesler FOR 2014 1st round pick, Luca Sbisa, Nick Bonino, 2014 3rd round pick -Offseason trade

Dougie Hamilton FOR 2015 1st round pick, 2015 2nd round pick, 2015 2nd round pick - Offseason trade

Milan Lucic FOR Martin Jones, Colin Miller, 2015 1st round pick- Offseason Trade

Keith Yandle, Chris Summers, 2015 4th round pick FOR Anthony Duclair, John Moore 2015 2nd round pick, 2016 1st round pick - Deadline trade

In all of these trades except for Yandle, the player was in the last year of the contract and was UFA after the season and Dougie Hamilton who was an RFA at the time of the trade. none of these players were near being a top ten player in the league at the time of their trade.
