Just posted the Calgary side of the Brown/Paul trade.

I know Paul said today that he would like to sign in Ottawa. Maybe there's an opportunity to flip him out and sign him back in the offseason. Only Dorion knows what the plan is for Brown and his extension but if it's too costly then maximizing his value and moving him this deadline would make sense.

That’s a fair point. The 2nd is Florida’s so that’s almost guaranteed to be low but I wouldn’t be opposed to adding a condition for the 1st. Maybe if they miss the playoffs the pick could push to 2023.

The 2nd is for Paul but a 1st and a prospect is delusional for Brown? He scored at over a 50 point pace last year and is scoring at almost a 60 point pace this year. Plays pp and is one of the best pkers in the league. Trading him at 50% retention with two years left leaves him with the exact same situation that Blake Coleman was traded under. Both with an extra year left on their deals at 1.8m against the cap. Coleman went for a 1st round prospect from the year before the trade (Foote) and a 1st. I'd argue that Brown is better than Coleman so why should the ask be any less?
