Description

Kenny doesn't want to spend big assets at the deadline unless it's to aquire a player with term. But even if we move Kassian, Smith, and Barrie retaining nothing. Oilers still only have $12M for 7 positions including a 1A goalie. So even after gymnastics to make some space, Oilers still have no money. You promote Dylan Holloway ($1 million) and find 3 bottom-6 forwards and a seventh defenseman for another aggregate $4 million. That leaves you with $7 million to get a goalie and a top-4 defenseman. That doesn't strike me as a doomsday scenario, and then there's always the chance that the cap rises by another million.
