Description
The signings are pretty much placeholder players to play until the young guys are ready and then the placeholders can be flipped at the deadline for more picks.

Trades
1.
MTL
  1. Monahan, Sean
  2. 2023 4th round pick (CGY)
CGY
Monahan has really fallen off a cliff the past two years, so Montreal can afford to take on his hefty final year of his contract and get a little sweetener to take it. If he plays well you can probably flip him 50% retained for a bigger return at the deadline.
    2.
    MTL
    1. Khudobin, Anton
    2. 2023 3rd round pick (DAL)
    DAL
    1. Petry, Jeff
    Additional Details:
Try to trade Petry somewhere and hopefully get his full salary off the books. You might need to take another teams bad contract for a no salary retained trade to work. Not specifically Dallas but they might be a team who would be (foolishly) interested
    3.
    MTL
    1. 2023 4th round pick (DAL)
    ARI
    1. Weber, Shea
    Additional Details:
They might have interest in Weber to get to the cap floor. Don’t know what an exact return would look like, but a late round pick might be most likely.
    4.
    MTL
    1. 2022 5th round pick (SEA)
    SEA
    1. Armia, Joel
    Additional Details:
Hope someone will take his full contract for somewhat of a return. Not specifically Seattle
    5.
    MTL
    1. Benson, Tyler [RFA Rights]
    2. 2023 2nd round pick (EDM)
    EDM
    1. Allen, Jake
    Additional Details:
Oilers have had interest in Allen for awhile and if they can’t find a decent goalie in free agency for a good price they might consider addressing that need via trade. The return could vary, but this might be around how much he gets traded for.
    6.
    EDM
    1. Hoffman, Mike
    Additional Details:
Two struggling players on the same AAV in a one for one swap. MTL might lose this trade but at the very least Monahan should be able to replace Hoffman’s current production.

EDM's seconds are tied up in conditional moves so they can't move their second for Allen. If that's all Petry can get, then the Habs keep him, IMO. Happy with the Armia and Weber trades though it sucks to not have Webs around. Happy with the Monahan deal but would hope to get a little extra for giving CGY all that relief.

All in all, for a Leaf fan this isn't too bad grin

Can we lower the second to a third?

If Allen continues to play the way he has since coming back from injury, he's going for no less than a second.

Fair enough. Can’t blame me for trying! He is a good goalie.. was just wondering what people would say.

I thought the Oilers were acquiring him with Kulak but I was wrong
