Timo Meier's QO is $10 Mil and he has arbitration rights why would he sign for less?

Why would he pass up an 8 year 70mil deal for a 1 year 10mil deal? WHat if he has a terrible season in the 10mil deal and has to settle for much less? A massive QO also has it's cons and so many on this site see it in one dimension. If I want a stable career of guaranteed big money - I don't push the QO.

worked out alright for Taylor Hall didn't it? got to play on a ****ty buffalo team and not have to try and then got to go contend with a team he liked at the deadline
