The Rebuild Begins

Idk what the future holds for this team. After the 2020-21 season, I really thought we were on the right track, with the abundance of youth, draft picks and cap space and its too bad that we didn't get to see whatever vision of a "rebuild" they had in the 2020 offseason come to fruition.

I think it would be in our best interest to load up on some 1-year vets who can mentor the young guys and be traded in February to contenders; Brassard and Braun seem like strong candidates in those departments, while I think Fleury would come back for another season or two if he's not ready to retire.

Strome and Kubalik take short term deals (Strome to get to UFA, Kubalik to rebuild his market). They can both be traded at the 2023 deadline if they play well and the FO determines they aren't part of the future. Dach really hasn't gotten any better since coming into the league three years ago, so his raise will be minimal, but still reflect his high potential. Caleb Jones is one of the few guys here now who might be an impact player when this team is good again, so he can get a longer term deal.

It's going to be a long couple of years....
