Description
this is prob on the low end of what fiala and boldy might command and also the goaltending but this was a fun challenge to put together. i'm also not really a minnesota fan so if there are any other prospects that are like definitely going to be in the lineup by this point that i forgot lmk and i can change it.

my assessment of this is that either they trade middleton in 23-24 for the cap space or goligoski retires, because he's from minnesota and has a full no move. maybe they trade merrill? also obviously dumba would be gone. honestly considering the cap situation this is still a pretty solid lineup.

Jost is probably gone, Greenway might be gone. Depending on how far along our LD prospects are in their development, one of Goligoski or Merrill is gone.

i thought they’d want to keep greenway bc of the success that line has had. i could see them moving jost but tbh wasn’t sure who else to put in that 4C spot so just threw him there. i could see them trading merrill but not sure how they move goligoski with the nmc unless he retires (and he’s old, so like it’s possible)

You forgot Freddy Gaudreau, who has a year left on his deal and has had an excellent year in his own right between Boldy and FIala. I have half a thought that if Rossi makes the team next season, perhaps they try him at wing opposite Boldy so that Gaudreau can stay on that line. Fiala is a goner.

Greenway is staying, not sure why they would move him after giving him three more years - and he's a possession fiend. Jost will be in the mix too - might as well see what you have in him next season. If Rossi isn't ready perhaps he could get a look with Boldy/Gaudreau instead.

With all these defensemen already signed but needing to sign Middleton, I could see either Dumba or Kulikov moving. Also, Fleury will easily get more than 900K; think more like 2.5-3M. No way Lambos or Wallstedt are ready for significant games next year, either. And even if Beckman makes the team, I could see them bringing back Bjugstad or Deslauries as a 13th forward to split time with him.

this is 23-24, and mostly exists as an experiment into keeping fiala, so gaudreau and some of the other UFAs slipped my mind completely, and i for sure overrelied on a few of the prospects and those could be replaced w similarly cheap FAs or something else.

my thinking w fleury is that if he really likes it there and just wants to play it out, he’ll be like 40 at that point and would be doing minny a solid. he’s made a ton of money in his career and seems to be decently selective w his destination so he might prioritize a better fit as a team/place over money? but that’s my personal speculation/also the money needed to make it work lol

Ah, my bad - didn't notice the 23-24 part! Could definitely see Wallstedt getting some games by then - perhaps under the tutelage of the flower.
