Description
We are at a tough point. Our performance has been great under Boudreau and we would easily be in the playoffs if not for our awful start with the old regime. There are two issues.

1. This might be a fluke

We have been good but our defense has been greatly inflated by Demko being a god. Furthermore, we have had a tendency to lose to some real bad teams. I think this roster probably makes the playoffs but it isn't a cup contender. We still need a better defense and a couple more forwards, and that might be hard to achieve being a okay playoff team without loads of cap

2. Miller and Boeser

Both of these players are important for us especially Miller. That being said both need extensions. Boeser doesn't really fit what the FO and Boudreau likes (speed). Miller is great but paying him top dollar well into his 30s is a bit sketchy especially already being chained to OEL's contract. We can get great packages for them but it will makes us worse (Miller especially, without him we get a lot worse.

In the end I think we need to take a step back in order to become actual contenders. I feel a lot better about trading Miller now that Petey has bounced back and looks once again set to be a Superstar.

This ACGM I am going to keep Miller and then I will do one with the same moves except trading Miller

Btw someone should add a "filler team" or smthn as someone to trade with for an ACGM. When you do a minor trade for a pick it would be cool

VAN
  1. Kapanen, Kasperi [RFA Rights]
  2. Marino, John
Additional Details:
This fits great for VAN. Marino could be a great fit with either Hughes (probably him) or OEL. Kapanen is fast and GMJR likes him so I could see it for sure. Myers is good but doesn't fit considering OEL is basically immovable. It sucks giving up Boeser but I think it will probably happen and in the end, it's the right move
PIT
  1. Boeser, Brock [RFA Rights]
  2. Myers, Tyler ($3,000,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Extension for BB agreed to before. Somewhere in the region of 7x7

This trade hinges on Pitt viewing Myers as a good 2nd pairing D. Considering Hextall seems to like big D-Men, Myers has been pretty good this season, and is actually good value at 3 mil I could see him do it.
2.
VAN
  1. Coghlan, Dylan
  2. Dadonov, Evgeni

    VAN
    1. Hörnqvist, Patric
    2. Luostarinen, Eetu [RFA Rights]
    3. 2022 3rd round pick (FLA)
    Additional Details:
Nice young player. Hornqvist contract is short enough to not be a huge problem. Dadonov probably doesn't waive for us
    FLA
    1. Dadonov, Evgeni ($2,500,000 retained)
    Additional Details:
Florida get a similar (slightly better) player than Hornqvist at half the price. Cap without downgrading TO much
    4.
    VAN
    1. 2022 5th round pick (ANA)
    Additional Details:
Don't really have room for him tbh. Would rather just have the cap
    ANA
    1. Dickinson, Jason
    Additional Details:
Eh, he is decent. Still has a bit of value
    5.
    VAN
    1. 2023 2nd round pick (DAL)
    Additional Details:
The cap and pick is more helpful for the purposes of this retool
    DAL
    1. Pearson, Tanner
    Additional Details:
has played really well under Boudreau. Nice top 9 guy to have for a contender

What would be a Miller trade that would work with this roster? We could sign an outside FA to fill his top 9 spot

I like the ideas, I think that the Dadonov thing is really smart, I think that as crazy as it sounds miller is more replaceable, we can have a top 6 without him, its the supporting pieces that we need. I think that if we were to pedal miller and get a young RD and a young middle 6 forward and a 1st we should be looking good. I really like the fillerteam idea, lets just have it be seattle because theyre the new guys

Agree on Miller. I was going to include a trade for him but I couldn't really think of one so I just posted it like this. He is great and I love him but I really dont feel comfortable paying him a massive contract considering were not really contending yet.

Dallas has enough mid/bottom-6 guys in the organization. They'll keep the pick

Agreed. DAL is far from a contender too.
