While San Jose would like to keep Meier, the rebuild is likely on and it's going to be hard to maximize his best years. By acquiring Holtz, they potentially get Meier 2.0 and the opportunity to reunite Hotlz with Eklund while obtaining 2 needed picks. The Arizona trade brings peace of mind to the Yotes by ensuring they get the player they want without being jumped at the expense of the latest of their 4 second rounders.

In your trade with AZ is the scenario that Mtl takes Wright or otherwise? It does matter. Many think Cooley fits more with Mtl and Slafkovsky's play (Wrights quietness) has some thinking JS goes 1 OA

So if:
Mtl Takes Wright, AZ wants to make sure Cooley is there, we move down to 3 and take JS at 3?
or
Mtl takes Cooley, what do we do with Wright?
or
Mtl takes Slaf, what do we do with Wright/Cooley etc

If Slaf is gone and AZ wants Wright it costs more than a 2nd no? In that scenario, I think I want on of the RHD

This is definitely a draft day trade to see how the board plays out. This exists in the realm of your first scenario and then we choose between JS or Nemec at 3.

No. He’s basically untouchable for the time being. Could that change in the future? Possibly but for now his value is sky high and I wouldn’t accept any offer not containing either a first/second overall pick or the best prospect in the league.

Holtz is very unproven and not a Meier 2.0 yet atleast.

Timo's choice is 1 year 10 mil or 8 years 8.5ish mil. I bet he'll go the long-term route for Nico.

And yes, this is acceptable but I am certain the sharks would like the 2023 1st in there.

With the sharks opting not to rebuild, this will never happen unfortunately. Signing Hertl was a sign that they intend to make the playoffs next year. No doubt they will re-sign Meier. There were overpayments left and right at the TDL last year and we could have gotten a sweet package for Hertl. Is what it is.
