Quoting: palhal
Trading under producing vets with larger caps, without taking money back in a trade just doesn't happen.
Taking money back or offering a piece with the player. Neither was done here. Beleskey is really the only bad contract here being moved. Hayes is on a 1Y deal at 2.3M. Hardly a large cap hit.
On the mock itself, rough.....
This is Oshie's last big contract. He is 30 years old (I know, it doesn't feel like he is). He's going to cash in and I'll be shocked if he takes anything less than 6M. Shattenkirk is not needed here with Carlo and McAvoy. Do you watch him in the playoffs? He's a puddle. The prime definition of a great regular season player, mediocre on the big stage. Good luck to the team who gives him a 6.5M+ AAV contract for 6-7 years. Maybe he "figures it out" in the playoffs, but I doubt it. Justin Williams would be perfect, but he's the only player from Washington that I'd want Boston to be interested in.
Your trades are all subpar. I touched on the Arizona one above, but Kevan Miller for a 3rd? I guess you didn't watch him much this year. He actually took a step in development and is a good bottom pairing #5 who can play up if needed. He was stellar in the playoffs as well. Nash/Colin for a 3rd? bottom roster players who are cheap are shipped out for a 3rd rounder that could amount to nothing? Spooner/Subban/3rd for a 2019 2nd? What are these? Just rough trades that make no sense for the Bruins.
So....your trades don't make sense and are are actually terrible value for the Bruins. You undersigned most free agents, and ones we don't need. You're essentially over the cap b/c of those contracts not being close to where they will sign. I'd rather sign Pastrnak to a long term deal over Oshie. You leave the Bruins with little cap space going forward.....Your lineup in itself is awful. Guys playing off sides, top 6 forwards on the 4th line, a 3rd line consisting of 3 rookies, 2 of which has 0-8 games experience. My God, and you think this is "Building" for a Cup?
