Buffalo's not giving up Asplund.

Asplund's a no go there
Let me start, I really like Asplund.
Looking at his scoring touch he has demonstrated in the IIHF and last year when he was playing with Mittelstadt and Thompson, I wonder if he could become a really good two way player.
I will again be the fly in the ointment on this deal, this trade is really a good deal for Buffalo.
Moving from 28th to 15th is worth about the 33rd OA (nearly a first).
Ignoring Poolman and Dickinson this deal is presuming Asplund is worth a late first round pick.
That is a lot for a defensive forward.
Poolman does not add much to the deal other than he is a RHD and would be at best our seventh defenseman or even be sent to Rochester.
Dickinson on the other hand is over paid, but may be better than Asplund.
Let's compare the two:
...............Dickinson v Asplund
hits........101...............30
PK TOI...1:28..............0:48
Blocks...43..................14
OZS........44.7...............50.3
goal/60..0.4.................0.4
pts/60....0.8.................1.4
TK/GV...2.22................0.88
GV.........9.....................24
TK..........20...................21
Dickenson hits (among all Sabre forwards only Hayden had more hits), blocks shots, and manages the puck better better than Rasmus.
Poolman and Dickenson would help the Sabres reach the floor, we move up 13 spots, and get a good defensive forward equal to or better than Asplund.
I think I make this trade and hope Asplund never becomes a big offensive threat in the NHL.
