Description
Breakdown of Trades:
- Lindell is worth a 1st and a 2nd, and Bear and the 4th is worth the 2nd and Karlstrom. Lindell has an NMC but I think he could be convinced to waive it for Carolina as they are a good team and have a lot of Finns on the roster. I know the Canes have Slavin but the Canes love defense and Lindell is an upgrade over Ian Cole and can give Slavin a breather.
- Faksa cap dump - could go to any team near the cap floor
- Pens get a cheap NHL ready prospect and former first round pick in Dellandrea, move up 3 spots in the first round, and get a prospect in Tufte who has shown flashes of being NHL ready and just needs a change of scenery IMO. Pens need cap space if they want to keep Letang, Geno, Kapanen, Heinen, and sign a backup, and out of the potential guys to be traded (Zucker, Marino, Pettersson), Marino is probably the only one where they could get valuable assets back with out giving up extra. Marino would be a perfect D partner for Heiskanen and would allow him to play on his natural left side where he will flourish
- Oilers get a good and cheap NHL depth player with Kiviranta, a center prospect who should be ready to be a full time NHLer, and move up 7 spots in the first round. EDM doesn't have a ton of leverage either because of their cap crunch.
- Could also trade Khudobin to a team that needs a goalie, as he is expected to healthy by training camp and only has 1 year left on his contract, but for now he goes on LTIR for cap purposes

Let me know if the value is off on any of these trades, I don't watch the Oilers, Pens, or Canes that much so I was just going off rumors and analytics.

FA Signings:
- Jason Robertson bridge deal that expires when Benn's contract is up. Could probably be closer to the 7-7.5 range but hoping that with no state income tax he takes a little less
- For Oettinger I went off of what Nedelkjovic got for his bridge deal
- Puljujarvi I'm not entirely sure of what his AAV would be. 3.4 seemed to right for a guy with 36 points and defensive capabilities. If his AAV ends up being higher then maybe give Otter 3m x 2
- This seems to be around what I've seen Bear get from other people's armchair GMs as well as some credible reporters on twitter. Bear gets a little pay raise and shorter term after a down year so he can prove himself
- I feel like this is reasonable for Burakovsky, but also wouldn't be surprised if a team gives him in the range of 7.5 or higher. Which would be a big overpay IMO. If Jeff Skinner can revive his production in Buffalo, then so can Seguin. He just needs a linemate(s) that can set him up and drive play, not the fossil of Benn or inconsistent Gurianov. You could tell Seguin's injury was still effecting him last year so hopefully with a full offseason, a new coach, and better linemates he can at least get back to 60+ points a year.
- Mikheyev. This might be in the lower part of the range that he is looking for but no state income tax and still being on a good team could help convince him to sign.
- Wedgewood is a solid backup and he gets a pay raise

My goal for this was to improve the Stars offense, as it is no secret that is has been subpar especially at 5v5 the past few years, while not sacrificing team defense and making sure that Otter has every chance to build off of his playoffs. Also wanted to have an even Left/Right balance on defense as right now Hakanpaa is the only RHD under contract which means that Miro will probably have to play on the right side again and that is stopping him from reaching his full potential. Not a coincidence that he scored 12 goals in his rookie year when playing on the left side (even with Roman Polak as a partner) and has only scored 21 in 193 games since. With DeBoer the Stars are going to be more of a possession team, and currently the Stars don't have the horses to be a dominant possession team like VGK was under DeBoer. All of the new additions on offense had a Corsi% of 55% or higher last season. The Stars only had 3 full time forwards with a Corsi above 50% last season. Yikes. I left 870k in cap space so that way they would have enough money to call someone up in the event of an injury

I know how CapFriendly discussions can be so don't come at me if I screwed over your favorite team or am off on the value, I am posting this in hopes of learning from y'all so let's have a constructive discussion

I would swap an extended TDA for Lindell. I dont see Carolina moving all of that for Lindell.

Yeah I don't expect Carolina to trade for a defenseman like Lindell either but if they did he could be a good fit and I don't think that value is too far off. Muzzin got a first and two good prospects which equates to the 1st and the 2nd, and then Bear nets them the 2nd and Karlstrom. It's pretty much two separate trades in one transaction.

There really isn’t much of a point for the Canes to spend that much on someone who won’t even replace Skjei. And I highly doubt he would want to get stuck on the 3rd pairing either.
