Marchment just had a breakout scoring year. He should be targetting well above the Nick Paul contract. Marchment should be wanting to come in around 5-6 mil on a 3ish year contract, selling himself as the next Tom Wilson, even if he'll obviously have to come down a bit.

I'm sure he had fine memories of toronto giving up on him.

Sign Kessel and Kadri too

How did Toronto give up on him? Marchment went undrafted and the Leafs raised him up from the ECHL all the way to the NHL then found him a home when they didn't have further room for his development. He's an NHL player today because the Leafs never gave up on him. Talk about knowing nothing about what you are trying to talk about.

First Marchment mock signing that I have seen in terms of AAV, like @Byrr pointed out he's going to want more money, but perhaps he takes less with the Leafs but on a much shorter term of course, perhaps 3-3.5 for 2 or 3 years. I expect him to go for security and try to get paid 4-5m for 3 to 5 years.

They didn't give up on him, he got traded to give him a chance at playing time in the NHL I believe. Kessel wasn't very cooperative apparently with management and he had his frustrations but ultimately they moved him somewhere where he had a good chance to win. I don't think he has anything against the city since he brought the Cup to Toronto (I don't think he was showboating). Was different management anyways but he probably doesn't want the pressure of playing in Tor or risking his iron streak.

But whatever let's put them on a line with Kadri and call them the reject line.
