Description

Massive trade to land Matthew Tkachuk, followed up by a Wild deal to snag Talbot while moving Murray (bonus point for moving him to pair with old buddy MAF!).

Stutzle, Zub, and DeBrincat are RFA next season when there will be $1 million more in cap, the Conor Brown retention ($1.8 million) will be gone and the $1.5 million of current cap space in addition to Hamonic, Holden, and del Zotto deals expiring, and a possible Zaitsev buyout should have enough space to make that all happen.

Flames denied a tkachuk trade for the 2nd pick plus more. I’d imagine this doesn’t get the deal done either. Every flames fan knows tkachuk is a rare commodity in the NHL, a modern day power forward who can put up 40 goals. Sens already gonna have to pay cat next year so why sell the farm just to get tkachuk and underpay him while doing so. If pinto bean is in a trade with murray involved, the other team is paying and the sens aren’t retaining, he’s that good.
