Description
Obviously requires cap surgery and the reacquisition of a lost pick, but what if the Blues offersheet Tkachuk on a 1-year deal? Forces the flames to either fold or walk him right to UFA. Either way, he’s a Blue and this keeps Kyrou/Neighbours/Bolduc etc in the fold. I’m still working on ideas for the last move to keep the team compliant with a 22 man roster

  1. 2023 2nd round pick (STL)
Additional Details:
Blues just need that second round pick back. Barbashev was 25-35 last year and could fetch a nice return at the deadline. Blues could theoretically add too.
2.
STL
  1. 2023 3rd round pick (CGY)
Additional Details:
Seattle needs a powerplay quarterback, Krug is one of the best. Obviously has to waive his NTC, but if he doesn’t you trade Tarasenko

So you offer that Tkachuk and then he has the ability to go to UFA next summer? Isn't a plan at all. And then you think you can get rid of 6.5m Krug that easily? Trade Tarasenko maybe....but what NTC has cap for him.

Or just keep the picks and sign Tkachuk as a UFA next summer. Everyone knows he wants to be play for the Blues.

Calgary is not going to let him get to UFA. He’s either traded or signed long term this summer… unless he screws them over by accepting his QO.

Even if Tkachuk is traded he's not obligated to sign with the team acquiring him. He's still a pending UFA. A rental. Why would he sign a long term deal? This isn't 1955. The player doesn't have to knuckle under to the team.
