I don't see what is in this for any of the teams you think you'd be trading with.

AZ doesn't have a cap-floor problem, so why would they take Clowe?

And you want Montreal to trade you a solid top-4 D, a young, decent hulking centre/wing, and a Team Canada defence prospect for spare parts? Where is the #1 pick overall? Maybe then this makes for a reasonable trade.

      Sure I can explain:
AZ has been taking on contract for picks since the beginning of time. Never said they had floor problems just taking assets. Could be Vegas too. We did it for Savard. I just think we need the cap and more bodies now. AZ gets a pick for the contract that is little or no dollars out of pocket.

Emelin is a bottom pairing guy from what I have seen on Habs boards fans cant wait to get rid of (not my words). His cap goes away to help sign Rads etc. McCarron and Jul are the nuggets and Montreal gets a D that complements Weber. Regardless of whether or not you think so, Greene is the perfect partner for him. Better than Markov, can log nearly as many minutes etc. The argument is he is not a #1, yes we have heard it in Jersey forever! He would still be Montreal's #2 D man behind Shea. And for that, assets come the other way. Auvituu is not on anyone's radar because he did not get enough with us, but he has very good numbers, is exp exempt, I actually would prefer to keep him but he should start somewhere. In Liiga (Finland's top professional league). He had 21 points (six goals, 15 assists) in 48 games and 13 (six goals, seven assists) in 18 playoff games last season, just for some perspective.
I can't speak to Jul like Habs fan can, but its not like I asked for Segachev like every other poster trying to take him. #1 OA please! Its not a McDavid, Matthews draft but nothing i suggested is near Nolan/Nico.

A UFA backup goalie, an underwhelming RFA C prospect for AHL depth, and 19th overall in a weak draft? No thanks.

Your backup options suck, Kinkaid is much better than any of those, you want young cheap guys who score a ton (pick any two: young/cheap/scoring) and you have no first or second this year. You need to sign 5 RFAs, replace 1 UFA forward, have $60M tied up in 15 rostered guys. OK!
Sounds like kind of like this:

Why wouldn't we just try to sign Kinkaid on our own? At most, the UFA rights for a backup goalie would be worth a 4th if you're lucky. My issue with Blandisi is that he doesn't add anything to our team other than give Iowa a little depth. After doing a little research, he seems like a less skilled Grayson Downing who we just traded away last year because he had no shot at making our roster.

As for the article you linked, I don't believe we should throw away a very solid 23 year old defenseman with 370 NHL games under his belt on a friendly contract for a pending UFA, AHL depth, and a late first in a lame draft just so you can say you didn't lose him for nothing. He's worth a lot more than a 4th, AHL depth forward, and a late first which is really worth what would normally be a mid-2nd round pick. I firmly believe Brodin should be the one we protect over Dumba anyway. He gives us a better chance of winning on a nightly basis and Dumba would net the higher return.
