Description
Panarin really should be worth the 3rd OA straightup from Dallas. (They appear to be slim at LW. They would HAVE to find a taker for one of their goalies for sure!). This would alleviate the cap issue plus allow Chicago to draft an impact player for the near future. My pick would be Vilardi. Toronto recently signed some LHDs but also could benefit from Hjalmarsson, who, despite incredible team success, has always played on the wrong side. Just shows his versatility. Panik had a breakout season and has a real nice cap hit that Vegas may be more interested in. It would allow the Hawks to keep two pretty good role players where they have team weakness. Signing Marleau at a bargain hit seems absurd (could be increased to $3.5-4M) but the Hawks could use his production and experience for one season, allowing Knott to develop in Rockford. A different look for sure with several wild cards/questions. Not a whole lot of options presently as the team is currently built.

Why are you giving up Panik for Free? Don't think they could get a return for him? Shaw got (2) 2nds. and pretty good 2nds at that. Panik while doesn't have the track record had a better year than Shaw's ever had. Gotta keep hammer too.

Dallas would JUMP at that trade. a 25 year old - 2x top 10 scorer - soon to enter his prime - bargain price...steal. Draft picks are closer to sure things these days, but will NEVER be a 100% sure thing. This is a weak draft class and you could have Nail Yakupov or Griffen Reinhart like 2012...the last weak draft class...Murray and Galy are fine players, but I'd also expect ALOT more from a top 4 pick that either of them too.

Ideally, no one goes, right? However, Vegas will take someone -- it appears it very well may be both Kruger and TvR. They are under no obligation to send anything back so that would be two positions needing replacements. It would be easier to absorb the loss if Panik IMO. You're right, losing Hjalmarsson would be huge. Reports are that Forsling is making strides in becoming a fulltime regular this season. Regardless, this team needs a bit of a shakeup. Two straight first round exits for an older core does not bode well, especially with some glaring needs. We shall see soon...
