Description
Both Colorado & Florida have cap issues though for different reasons. FLA is in a bind whereas Colorado only needs cap space to re-sign Kadri if they choose to go that route. However this secures a good young C who will be cost controlled for a while in Lundell and would fit perfectly on an all Finnish 2nd line. FLA gets serious cap relief in dumping Hornqvist though he'd still be a useful veteran for COL. NYI get Girard (per the rumour mill but not at the cost of Beauvillier). They also get MacDermid to fight Reaves for extra entertainment for the cost of a depth D in Hutton. Megna is sent to FLA to balance contracts but is only a fringe player so won't likely cost against cap for FLA and they downgrade slightly to Newhook but gain a 1st round pick and over 5 mil in cap space for paying up an additional 3rd .....and Kadri? Sorry Naz but greedy means you need to find a new home!!!

It's an idea. Likely it wouldn't happen but I'd say nobody gets screwed and it helps all three teams.

Feel like you're selling very low on Girard. Chiarot got an unprotected '23 1st, a prospect, and a 4th. G, in contrast, is better and signed at a team-friendly deal for the next 5 years... He's going to be pricey if they deal him, which is still a big if. Lundell is a good get, but at the price of Newhook? No thanks. That and Hornqvist doesn't match our playing style at all.

Possibly selling low, yes, and unlike when Joe acquired Toews, which I've seen some NYI articles allude to (sending 2 seconds for Sammy lol). Maybe NYI has to add a little more. Hutton I've liked since college and can see him breaking out eventually (like a lot of college guys a little bit later than normal). Cheap depth righty if not and righting one of Joe's only duff moves (imo) in sending MacDermid where he can finally fight Reaves. Hornqvist I agree may not be ideal for the Avs style but I'd take that to get Lundell (buy Hornqvist out if necessary), and I think Lundell is a good upgrade over Newhook personally, but I guess that one is down to opinion.

I would bet Lundell is pretty close to untouchable - he’s on a star 1C trajectory which could happen as soon as next season. It would take a lot more to pry him from Florida

Perhaps. Then again a lot of Avs fans would say the same about Newhook. Certainly the idea of him or Byram being involved in a trade for JT Miller last season, for example, had the word 'untouchable' bandied around. FLA have some tricky times ahead with the cap though that's for sure.
