Can't tell if no Chinakhov is just an oversight or the typical CBJ disrespect.

No disrespect nor oversight. He simply is not as good or NHL ready than the other players here. There are 7 full time NHLers here and chinakov is good but not great imo. 14 in 62 isn’t exactly ideal. Sure he is 8th in points from that class but the gap between 7th and 8th is 26 points. The gap between 2 and 7 is 27 points. To be closer to 3rd than you are to 8th shows how steep the drop off is. Not to mention chinakov is a winger and the wingers here are so much better than him. Raymond stutzle Laf and Jarvis are all ahead of him in points and PPG. Perfetti was on pace for over 30 points when he was playing before he got injured. Chinakov was on pace for 18. Holtz and quinn were both exceptional in the AHL. Quinn lead all AHL rookies in PPG with 1.36 and holtz was 4th with 0.98. Quinn also had the advantage of playing with peterka but still he was tearing up the AHL. Now you may be wondering who 2 and 3 were. 2 was Mattias maccelli who was a 2019 4th rounder and 3 was Lukas riechel or the final winger here. If we look at former AHL players who put up similar stats in similar ways, guentzel is a great comp for Quinn. Quinn put up better numbers and is younger by 2 years compared to guentzel but for purposes of projecting his next seasons stats, we can expect around .8 PPG because that was around what guentzel did in his rookie year. If we compare holtz to a Jason robertson or a Josh Norris who also put up similar numbers in their D+2 year, we can project holtz to score in the 50-70 point range. Now I doubt chinakov puts up those numbers next year as a solid comparison is Michael Rasmussen who went for 18 points in 64 games. Now Rasmussen has had a relatively flat development curve and development isn’t linear but the fact he is a close comp in his draft year says something. The most alarming thing about this comp is how chinakov put up less PPG with more TOI per game. It’s not really an oversight nor disrespect, he just is not good as the established NHLers in this class and the players who will make the NHL jump this coming season, I expect to play better than chinakov does. Honestly based on how the prospects are doing right now from this draft, I would have everybody drafted above chinakov in the draft except mkamuhdulin stay above him, and I would 7 players drafted under him over him as well and that is just in the following 20 picks, not the entire draft. If we’re redrafting the top 40 with those exact players, chinakov I would rank 27th OA. Sure he 8th in points and 8th in games played, but he is so far under others from that draft in terms of skill. If you put him against other skaters from that draft with 15 games, he is last in PPG. Honestly I think CBJ should have allowed him to develop a year in the AHL and should have sent him down when he wasn’t performing. Chinakov was considered for this team, he just isn’t nearly as good as the others in this draft. I know it seems like an oversight or disrespect from a CBJ fans standpoint, but really I just don’t think he is as good. Whenever I make concept teams like this and mock drafts or rankings I put thought into it and although I didn’t watch chinakov a lot, his stats are lackluster. At this point he is off the team but next year it could completely change and he could be a top 6 guy if he plays well. Who knows, it’s only two years after the draft and 90% of the draft is yet to even make their NHL debut.
