1. Given where Minnybis with their goaltending, I don't see them having any interest in that deal. Like zero. Wallstedt is their heir apparent. Period.

2. I am all good with the Sandin signing, but......
a) not the guy I would be pairing with Matheson. That should be Savard. This gets the most out of Matheson's offensive game.
b) you don't trade Edmundson and use Sandin on the 2nd pairing. The kid has game. Having a steady presence flanking him, you will see the offensive game flourish.

3. In what world does one play Chris Wideman ahead of Savard anyway?

As a Leafs fan, I love Sandin, he has a lot of promise, but he’s done nothing to warrant a 4.2 mil offersheet with term, you may be able to get away with a 2.5 x 1 deal with him that the Leafs would have difficulty matching

i know it looks like a cluster**** but the thought process was that sandin will be our best D no doubt, having him off the first pair is goofy, none of our left D (in this case) are good enough to be a top pair except matheson, even though his best partner is indeed savard, who ends up as a scratch here because IMO he just doesnt really fit beside the other guys. wideman playing over him could also be a tank move if that helps although i really liked him last season

not to dump on other leafs D but if he improves as much as he did last year he will be their best defenceman, he already clears everyone but rielly and hes close there too
