Description
Call me crazy, but I truly believe he'll at least be in the Hart race. Because...

- Had 88 points in 67 games last season. That's 110 point pace if he played the entire year, which would've put him 4th in the league in points behind McJesus, Huby, and Johnny Hockey
- Tkachuk. Obviously. The guy just had an 100+ point season. Add Reinhart/Verhaeghe to that and that's one of the best lines in the league
- Losing Huby seems like a big blow to Barkov's production, but it really isn't. Besides the power play, they barely played together since they were on different lines. And pp production likely won't go down with Tkachuk

Again, I might sound crazy by saying all of this but he has a real shot imo

Btw ignore them being over the cap, wasn't a goal of mine to fix this, just trying to share something on my mind lmao

Finally, someone says it. I've been talking about it all summer with my hockey friends; if he was healthy, Barkov would've been in Hart talks this past season. In his last 82 games (which is taken from the two seasons which he played with Verhaeghe + whoever they could find to play RW, not Huberdeau), he scored 50 goals and 105 points while also playing Selke level defense. That's just crazy. He's the next Bergeron, just with more offense and a little less defense.

Although, one minor note, your math is a little off. As much as I'd like him to have been on pace for 120 points, he played 67 games, not 60. So his pace was actually around 110, not 120. Still, absolutely bonkers that nobody talked about it. The man's primary linemates this past season were Carter Verhaeghe and Anthony Duclair/Maxim Mamin. He only played with Huberdeau when the team was trailing badly, which happened more than you would expect but still not enough to say that Huby carried him (especially since his production didn't just skyrocket those few times they did play together).

I agree. If he can stay healthy, he'll easily be in Hart talks. Especially if he has good chemistry with Tkachuk, which I'm really banking on.

Barkov one of my fav players but you can also argue if Matthews played all 82 he would have a shot at the art ross as well as the rocket and hart
