Description

At this point, it seems like trading one of the depth defensemen is most likely (Ruhwedel, Freidman or Joseph), not Dumoulin or Pettersson. Boston could use a cheap and established NHL defenseman who can play in the top-4 if needed like Rudwedel while McAvoy and Grzelcyk start the season on LTIR. Ruhwedel gives them better depth later in the season as well.

This enables Poehling, Smith, O'Connor and Joseph to all make the NHL roster. Smith and Joseph can alternate stretches of games at the third pairing LD spot. The same can be done between Poehling and O'Connor at the fourth line LW spot.

Friedman and Archibald are sent down to the AHL after training camp and clear waivers.

Yes big Ruhwedel fan here and I honestly rather have another defenseman traded. The right side of the defense is a position of strength right now so trading Ruhwedel isn't as big of a blow and opens up a much needed roster spot.
