Guys they drafted out of the KHL/other Russian leagues (where you retain rights forever) and are still playing professional hockey (or are UFA but haven't "retired") but never came over to the NHL. Until they're done, they'll hang around on the reserve list. Weird quirk but a good chunk of teams have a couple guys on their reserve list like this
