Hey! So I thought it'd be fun to try to do a two-seasons-from now Caps team, but I made some conditions for myself. 1: I cannot sign any free agents. 2: I cannot re-sign any UFAs. I can, however, re-sign current Caps RFAs and reserve list players. The reasons for this are that I want to try to see the youngest possible, and also probably worst possible version of this team in the future. One reason is because it's a fun experiment, but another reason is that I think it dilutes some fears that a long rebuild is "imminent" for the Caps. We have some real talents tucked away that I think by 2024 will be ready to shine in the NHL. Uh. I'm also a biased fan though. The cap hits will probably not hit the floor, but to be fair, a lot of them will probably be higher two years from now than I can reasonably predict, so I think that evens out. Also, with signings, please remember that this is two years in the future lol so if they seem high now, remember to expect them to be better players and (probably) a higher cap.
